A swarm is a group of AI coding agents that ARBIT LAB dispatches in parallel toward a single goal. You describe what you want to build — ARBIT's coordinator breaks the work into tasks, spins up N agents (you pick which providers and how many), and assigns each agent its own isolated git worktree so they never step on each other's code. Agents can depend on each other: research and scaffolding agents finish first, then builder agents start, then test and review agents close the loop.

Yes — ARBIT LAB is fully provider-agnostic. You supply your own API keys directly to the CLI agent you choose (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, Amp, and 22+ more). ARBIT LAB orchestrates these existing CLIs; it never proxies your requests or stores your API credentials. Your costs go straight to the provider you use.

Your code stays on your machine. ARBIT LAB runs as a local desktop app with a local SQLite database — app state (tasks, conversations, session memory) never leaves your computer unless you use SSH remote projects. When an agent runs, its context is sent only to the provider CLI you chose (e.g. Anthropic's API for Claude Code). ARBIT LAB itself does not receive, store, or process your source code.

Each agent works in its own isolated git worktree — a lightweight branch checkout in a separate directory. When the agent finishes, ARBIT LAB lets you review the diff, run tests, open a pull request, and check CI — all in-app. You decide when to merge. Worktrees can be cleaned up automatically or preserved; configure teardown behavior per project in `.emdash.json`.
